Matthew Poynter ACO SOC is a British camera and Steadicam operator whose career spans more than thirty years in the camera department, working in both feature films and high-end television drama. He began his professional trajectory as a documentary camera assistant before transitioning to scripted drama, gradually advancing from trainee to camera operator. Over the years, Poynter has developed a strong reputation for his proficiency with wheels, dollies, cranes, handheld camera work, and Steadicam systems—he is a trained Steadicam operator under the guidance of Paul Edwards ACO. He is a member of the Association of Camera Operators (ACO), the Society of Operating Cameramen (SOC), and the Guild of British Camera Technicians (GBCT).
