Gemma Hoff is a hair and makeup designer. She began her career as a hairdresser in Hull, where she learned traditional techniques—graduated bobs, undercuts and precision cuts—earning the nickname Vidal after Vidal Sassoon for her dedication to the craft. After seven years honing her skills in salon settings, she moved to London at age 26 to work as a wig specialist (Wiggy) in the West End, contributing to acclaimed productions such as Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, and Jersey Boys. In the screen world, Hoff became known for her exemplary work both as a wig designer and as head of the hair and make-up department. Her credits include critically acclaimed productions such as The Crown (Seasons 1 & 2), Pieces of a Woman, The World to Come, and the Oscar-winning The Brutalist. She frequently collaborates with actresses Vanessa Kirby, Felicity Jones, and Lily James, often serving as their personal hair and make-up artist.
